What is the Comelit Mini-Wi-FI system?
It is the latest type of colour video door entry system that can link directly to your mobile.
If you look at the sample on the Rentrifone web page you can see that visually there is no difference between a Mini Wi-Fi and a normal video door entry system.
The Mini Wi-Fi system consists of a colour monitor in each flat and a colour camera at the entrance panel – just like a normal video door entry system, with the exception that with the Mini Wi-Fi system the monitor can receive and send Wi-Fi.
You can download the Comelit app. onto your mobile (either Android or Apple) and by following the simple on-screen menu on the monitor you can then link your mobile with the monitor.
From then on it is just like having your Door Entry System on your mobile.
If you wish you can see and speak to callers, open gates and doors and review callers to your property from earlier in the day. All from your Mobile.
You do not have to be anywhere near your property – you can even be abroad. All you need is a good Wi-Fi signal in your property where the monitor is, and also a good Wi-Fi/ data signal wherever your mobile is.
Why would I want a Wi-Fi system?
That’s a good question and it really depends on what you want from your mobile.
If all you use your mobile for is to make calls and send texts, then a Wi-Fi connection may not be for you.
However, if you have an app. for the news, your favourite music or the weather on your mobile, then you might like the idea of occasionally being able to keep in touch with your home when you are not there.
If you run your own business from your home, or you’re a parent with a small child for example, it means that you can be away from your home and still be able to deal with deliveries and callers whilst you are out.
The beauty of this system is that you can switch it off whenever you want. You need only be connected when it suits you.
If I download the app. do I have to be disturbed by every caller?
No, not at all. You can switch the app. on and off to suit yourself.
What happens if my mobile is lost or stolen?
It is exactly the same as would happen for any other app. that you have downloaded.
Our block is thinking of installing a new Video Door Entry System. Not everyone in the Block wants Wi-Fi. Is this going to be a problem?
This will not be a problem.
The new system does not need any special equipment other than a Wi-Fi monitor for those who want Wi-Fi.
Anyone who does not want Wi-Fi can have a normal monitor installed instead. If they change their minds later on they can purchase their own Wi-Fi monitor directly from Rentrifone. The old monitor can be easily unplugged and the new replacement Wi-fi monitor can be quickly plugged in, in its place.
As soon as the app. has been downloaded and the mobile has been set up they will then have full Wi-Fi connection to their mobile.
This can be easily done with one call to Rentrifone.
We are not ready yet to upgrade our existing Comelit system. Can some individual flats still upgrade to Wi-Fi?
Yes, it is possible for individual flats to upgrade if you have Comelit Simplebussystem already installed. It would then just be a matter of changing the existing monitor for a Mini Wi-Fi monitor.
Our door entry system is another brand. What are our options?
Unfortunately, at the moment the Comelit Mini Wi-Fi system is not compatible with other makes.
You could install a separate system to run co-jointly with your existing door entry system. This would require a separate entrance panel with camera, plus Wi-fi monitors into each flat that wanted to be connected to the system. Obviously, you would need to check out the terms of your lease etc. beforehand.
If this were not possible then you would need to upgrade the entire system to the entire Block. If you wished to go this route our surveys and quotations are free of charge. Just contact our offices or use the contact form on our website.
The previous owner of my flat had the Wi-Fi system. How do I disconnect them?
There will be no problem. The Wi-Fi only works through the previous owner’s router, which they will take with them when they leave your flat. When you connect the Wi-Fi to your own router it will automatically seek your router out. The previous owner will be disconnected.
